On a personal note, I've been attempting to build out a bit of an accommodation portfolio so that I can create content for short term stays that have a lot to offer but not a lot of that 'creator's touch' if you know what I mean. I've reached out to a couple of local-ish hosts to get the ball rolling on this and was presented with the chance to do some work for a stellar cabin about an hour and a half away from KW!
Kinfolk Cabin sits tucked away in a rural setting near Priceville, Ontario. The hosts, Allison and Arjan, have ensured that your stay at the cabin is private despite being located on their property. They’ve built a wonderful natural ‘wall’ (it’s a hill!) to create a barrier between your area and their area and honestly when you’re sitting by the fire you wouldn’t even know you’re sharing the property!
When we arrived we were greeted by Allison who handed us a plate of fresh watermelon and took us on a tour of the property. While the cabin area is totally private, you also have the option to walk all the way to the back of property to enjoy the river. While the river area isn't quite ideal for a full swim, it is perfect to cool down in on a hot summer day. Just be aware that the fish will nibble your toes!
Inside the cabin you have everything you need to ensure your creature comforts. Kinfolk boasts a very comfortable queen size bed on the main level and a second queen size bed in a loft which is perfect for kids or people that don't mind tighter spaces. The kitchen has everything you need for a short stay including a LOT of fresh water, a mini fridge, a stovetop, and all of the utensils necessary to prepare your meals. There is even a toilet in the cabin which offers a semi private experience! I definitely recommend staying at this cabin with people you are comfortable with when it comes to the bathroom sitch 😉
The cabin was constructed in an area of the property that allows the interior to stay cool during the day in the summer months. The trees keep the building shaded and the window placements allow for airflow throughout. Don't worry, if you visit in the winter there is a wood stove to keep you nice and toasty!
Outside of the cabin you have a generous amount of space which includes a fire-pit, hammock, wood burning hot tub, and an outdoor shower. Okay, okay. The outdoor shower isn't quite ready yet but it will be soon and it's going to be AWSOME.
The hot tub is definitely a highlight of this property (aside from my fave part, chickens and ducks)! Built by Canadian company GOODLAND, this hot tub is a pretty next level experience for those of us that prefer a bit of a more natural approach to things. This tub fit two of us perfectly and could definitely fit another adult or a couple kids as well if that's your dynamic. The entire tub is constructed from recyclable materials and contains fresh water. The best part? It's heated by good ol' fire. While this tub isn't ideal for someone looking for a quick soak whenever you feel like it, it's absolutely perfect for anyone looking to make their soak an experience. It also sounds delightful (wood burning ASMR anyone?) and smells real good.
If you find yourself looking for a unique stay in Southern Ontario, look no further than Kinfolk Cabin. It truly is one of a kind and I cannot express enough how beautiful the location is and how kind and welcoming the hosts are!
